Nederlandse Loterij, the largest provider of games of chance in the Netherlands, will become Official Partner of the European Para Championships (EPC). The first edition of the multisport event will take place from August 8-20 in Rotterdam. Athletes in ten different parasports will then compete for European titles.
Nederlandse Loterij has been an important partner of Dutch sports for many years. Nederlandse Loterij annually remits a large part of its proceeds to Dutch sports. On top of that, the gaming provider is the main sponsor of TeamNL, the Dutch Olympic and Paralympic team.
"As sport's biggest supporter of all, Nederlandse Loterij wants to get all of the Netherlands moving," said Joost Zuure, head of sponsorship and beneficiaries at Nederlandse Loterij. "From grassroots sports to elite sports and from Olympics to Paralympics. We do this by passing on a large part of our proceeds to Dutch sports each year."
The organization also likes to sponsor leading sporting events in its own country such as the European Para Championships. "By doing so, we support paralympic sports and indirectly help our top paralympic athletes with a stage they deserve. And with their top performances, the athletes are the inspiration for a new generation. In Rotterdam, Nederlandse Loterij is happy to partner with TeamNL on the road to Paris 2024."
EPC Tournament Director Jeroen Straathof is delighted to welcome Nederlandse Loterij as a partner. "Nederlandse Loterij is the partner of Dutch sports. Through the annual remittance they realize through their nine gaming brands, there is sustainable investment in sport. These funds go to both grassroots sports and elite sports," says Straathof.
"That's why it's so nice that in addition to the main sponsorship of TeamNL, Nederlandse Loterij also releases funds for our European Para Championships. By doing so, they also underline the importance of parasports and fulfill their mission: 'where all of the Netherlands win'," Straathof adds.
Together with the Fonds Gehandicaptensport (Uniek Sporten), Nederlandse Loterij will be visible during the event in front of Ahoy Rotterdam with a sports container and the campaign 'no excuses (to play sports)'. "This fits perfectly with our slogan 'the only pity is to miss it.' After all, everyone can play sports," Straathof said.
The European Para Championships is a unique event that brings together ten different parasports. Athletes will compete for the European Championships in Para cycling, Para archery, Para badminton, Wheelchair tennis, Boccia, Goalball, Wheelchair basketball, Para judo, Shooting parasport and Para taekwondo. This multisport event not only offers the chance for athletes to compete for gold medals, but also to gain qualification points or direct qualification for the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris.
Nederlandse Loterij is the largest provider of games of chance in the Netherlands with nine game brands: Staatsloterij, Lotto, Eurojackpot, Miljoenenspel, Lucky Day, Krasloten, TOTO Winkel, TOTO Sport and TOTO Casino. Annually, Nederlandse Loterij gives almost all of its proceeds to Dutch sports through NOC*NSF (the Dutch Olympic and Paralympic Committee), to 18 charities in the field of health, exercise and welfare and to Dutch society through the Ministry of Finance.
