Entertainment platform TikTok will become Official Media Partner of the European Para Championships. The first edition of the multisport event will take place from August 8-20 in Rotterdam. Athletes in ten different parasports will then compete for European titles.
Every day, TikTok brings fans from around the world together to celebrate, engage, and create around the most exciting moments in their sports. By giving the global sports community unique access to the teams, players, and events they love so much, TikTok has quickly become a go-to destination for sports content and fan engagement.
As the European Para Championships kicks off, the event and TikTok are honoured to build on the commitment to support the sport by giving the community a front row seat to all the excitement around the fight for the European titles.
Throughout the tournament, TikTok and the European Para Championships will bring fans the most exciting content, including behind-the-scenes moments, pre-competition insights, highlights, athlete reactions, and much more. Fans on TikTok will be able to access the best content in one place at the official #EPC2023 Search Hub, which will feature all the latest content from the event, official broadcasters, teams, and athletes, as well as provide livestreams during the Opening Ceremony as well as selection finals - something that has never been done before in the world of para sports.
The European Para Championships and TikTok will invite athletes and federations for a workshop to help them create new content and optimize the visibility of parasports on the platform.
Tournament Director Jeroen Straathof is pleased to announce TikTok as a media partner of the event. “This partnership allows us to give parasports a stage with an incredibly large reach within an engaging community”, Straathof says. “We can plant a seed in the minds of the sports fans of the future! As an official media partner, TikTok will maximally support all content around #EPC2023 and give us more visibility on the platform. Also, the fact that several finals can be seen live through the platform is unique in parasport, which we are proud of.”
"By giving fans an unique access to their favorite athletes and sports, TikTok has quickly become a go-to destination for sports content. As we celebrate one of the para sports events of the year, we're excited to be working with the European Para Championships to bring dedicated content from the event in Rotterdam to our sports community, giving them a front row seat to all the action," said Marlène Masure, General Manager Operations France, Benelux & Southern Europe at TikTok.
The European Para Championships is a unique event that brings together ten different parasports. Athletes will compete for the European Championships in Para cycling, Para archery, Para badminton, Wheelchair tennis, Boccia, Goalball, Wheelchair basketball, Para judo, Shooting parasport and Para taekwondo. This multisport event not only offers the chance for athletes to compete for gold medals, but also to gain qualification points or direct qualification for the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris.
TikTok is the leading destination for short-form mobile video. Their mission is to inspire creativity and bring joy. TikTok's global headquarters are in Los Angeles and Singapore, and its offices include New York, London, Dublin, Paris, Berlin, Dubai, Jakarta, Seoul, and Tokyo.
