Netherlands and Great Britain qualify for women’s Wheelchair basketball final and earn ticket for 2024 Paralympic Games
The Dutch and British Women’s Wheelchair basketball teams have qualified for the final of the European Para Championships in Rotterdam. The Dutch defeated Spain 64-31 in the semi-finals, while Great Britain beat Germany 57-34. In addition to reaching the final, the two teams have also guaranteed themselves a ticket to the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris.
“I think reaching another final is awesome”, Dutch player Bo Kramer said. “But we are here for one thing and that’s the gold medal. Reaching the final is a step towards that. Of course we are very happy we got the ticket for Paris (2024 Paralympic Games) as well. It’s a good side goal I guess, but we believe the only thing we need to do here is taking home the gold medal, so we’re not done yet.”
The Dutch basketball players already grabbed the world title earlier this year and won paralympic gold at the Tokyo Paralympic Games. They will try to defend that title next year, but first the European Championship final in Rotterdam awaits.
The women’s Wheelchair basketball final of the European Championships is scheduled for Friday, August 18 at 20.00 in Rotterdam Ahoy.
The men’s semi-finals take place on Thursday, with Netherlands taking on Spain and Great Britain versus Germany.
